Jamie Hirsch: “Elliott, we were talking right at the beginning of the show about how the week has been strangely uneventful, right? For a lot of the things that are rumored to be happening, nothing really big has happened.
Do you think we’ll have a wave of news starting, I don’t know, on Monday?
Friedman: “I do. I think this week with everyone coming to Nashville next week, Jimmy, I think she’s going to get better.
For one thing, I think deadlines motivate action. Right now we don’t have a lot of deadlines yet, so once we get closer to the draft and people actually have to make decisions and decide where they’re going, I think that opens things up.
But, you know, Jimmy, the other thing someone said to me this morning, is there are a lot of good guys out there. If you think about what Winnipeg might be up to and what Calgary might be up to and some of the other teams might be up to, there are some really talented players out there.
And now I think the teams are feeling, the teams that are going to go after these players, they think they can wait a little bit to see if some of these teams panic or if some of these teams panic.
Especially when it comes to goalkeepers. There are a lot of goalkeepers out there.
So, are you looking for a free proxy? Are you looking for someone to trade with? Are you looking for someone with a contract? Are you looking for someone to give a contract to so you can set your terms? There is a lot out there.
I think some teams that buy. Another Philly one. Daniel Brier sure is trying things out. But I think there’s a lot of teams buying that kind of say, ‘There’s a lot out there and we can wait a little bit and see who’s a little concerned that they might not be able to make the moves that they want to move.'”
