Sean Monahan I don’t mind going back to the Montreal Canadiens next season
Stu Cowan from the Montreal GazetteDue to injuries, Montreal Canadiens’ Sean Monahan only managed to play in 25 games this past season, but he scored six goals and had 11 assists in those games.
UFA had surgery on his right hip in the last off-season and on his left hip the previous season. He suffered a broken foot this season and after playing on it in two matches, it resulted in a groin injury. Skiing is expected to begin in the next few weeks.
NHL Trade Deadline Non Effects From The East
Monahan feels he will be healthy for next season and ready to go. He didn’t mind the chance to play for the Canadiens again.
“I loved my time here,” Monahan said. “I made some friends for life in such a short time. I think this team will be really competitive soon. To be back here will be very special. I don’t think I have to play enough games here at the Peel Centre. It will be special to be back” .
Monahan and a right-handed defenseman
Now Mark Dumont of the Montreal Hockey League: (Mailbag) Montreal Canadiens waiting for UFA Sean Monahan said he wouldn’t mind coming back next year.
“It’s a special place to play. You get goosebumps walking on the ice of Bell Center. I’ll see if I can work something out.”
It just doesn’t look like they’ve had conversations and the show is close. Health is an issue with Monahan. If the Canadians made him an offer, it could only be for a year. He might jump on a multi-year offer if someone sent him his way.
NHL rumours: Ottawa Senators, Montreal Canadiens, San Jose Sharks
Canadiens GM Kent Hughes may try to sign a right defenseman this season, someone like the New Jersey Devils Damon Severson. What complicates Severson is that he’s heard he might not want to play in a market like Montreal.
