The Dallas Stars continue to look to create cap space
Saad Youssef from Athletic: Stard will be looking to upgrade their roster in the off-season. However, they have limited hood space and even more so with a signature Evgeny Dadonov. So the stars will be looking to create a cover space this summer.
NHL Rumors: Dallas Stars and Pierre-Luc Dubois
- buying Ryan Souter — As Youssef writes and documents on NHL Rumors.com, stars can buy Ryan Suter. This will save space for the Stars cover this summer and the next followed by a hanging cover for the next two summers when hopefully the cover will rise. Time flies as the acquisition window closes.
- commerce Colin Miller – Stars General Manager Jim Neal can trade Colin Miller. He has a reasonable ceiling of $1.85 million USD. He’s a capable defenseman and teams can always use him.
- commerce Jani Hakanpa – Another option is to trade Hakanpaa. He’s good at penalties and he’s big. It can come down to him and Miller. If Hakanpaa goes, $1.5 million in salary cap space will be freed up.
- Trade Radek Faksa Another trade segment is Faksa which brings in $3.25 million per season. He is a good striker in the bottom six forward who can rotate from the third and fourth lines. He has a five-team no-trade list, so it’s not out of the question.
- commerce Mason March – It is unlikely that this will happen, because the stars are such a player. Marchment has a 10-team non-trading list and will not attract $4.5 million to teams. Plus, it fits the star system really well.
Capitals may stick Evgeny Kuznetsov And Anthony Mantha After all
Sammy Silber from The Hockey News: Silber writes that the Washington Capitals are considering changes in the offseason. Two names appeared – Evgeny Kuznetsov and Anthony Mantha.
NHL rumours: Washington Capitals, Toronto Maple Leafs, Tampa Bay Lightning, Vancouver Canucks
However, interest in Mantha is not there and Kuznetsov’s circulation has also become elusive.
Mantha has $5.7 million left in the year and will be the UFA Championship next season. He really didn’t show much in Washington, and his confidence wasn’t what it used to be. Hopefully a new coach will change that and his performance will rise to reignite the trade talks.
As for Kuznetsov, his play has been inconsistent lately in the capitals. Not to mention his off-ice problems. Even though he asked for a deal, it might be best to stick with him and Mantha and see what the next season looks like.
