Viktor Olofsson and his camp expect a bargain in this off-season
Lance Lisowski from The Buffalo NewsMultiple scouting sources have said that Buffalo Sabers forward Viktor Olofsson and his camp are anticipating a deal this season.
Olofsson has a year left on his contract at $4.75 million and will become a UFA player after the season.
NHL rumours: Swift strikes potential trade candidates in the offseason
Sources said Sabers GM Kevin Adams is “very active” in business talks in multiple areas. He’s talked to teams about going to or back in the draft. They have pick #13. Sources won’t say if Olofsson is linked to any of those talks.
Olofsson has become consumed by the appearances of Jack Quinn, JJ Peterka, and possibly Jiri Kulich this year.
Sources say Olofsson didn’t ask for a trade but was unhappy during exit interviews after being scratched in seven out of 15 games at the end of the season.
The Sabers don’t have much leverage in trade talks, and they don’t need to transfer him if they don’t want to given how much he likes him in the dressing room and as security for someone like Kolic if he’s not on the team.
NHL rumours: Jacob Markstrom, Carter Hart, and the RFAs who may not qualify
