Rick Daliwall: “Elliott, in Vancouver, if you could give us an update on Emily Castonguay (Canucks AGM) rumors to Philadelphia?”
Friedman: “Well, the name was revealed and I don’t think it was something the Canucks liked very much to be completely honest. I don’t think it was something Emily Castongway liked very much to be honest.”
But I heard they asked her about it and I heard she made it clear to them that she was happy to stay and didn’t want to go anywhere. She greatly appreciates the opportunities she has in Vancouver and has made that very clear. So I don’t expect anything from her.
I still think it’s possible, and there’s enough madness flying around that situation, but I think it’s possible Cammi Granato could still be on Philly’s radar. I just want to let this happen and see where that goes.
So I think Philly was interested in both of them and was kind of doing their leg work on both of them. I don’t expect anything to happen here with Castonguay right now and we’ll see if that happens anywhere with Cammi Granato.”
Jason Zucker hopes he can return to Pittsburgh next season
Seth Rorabo from the Pittsburgh Tribune Live: Pittsburgh Penguins outstanding UFA forward Jason Zucker has been healthy this season, making 78 appearances, scoring 27 goals and adding 21 assists. He led the team with 195 hits.
The 31-year-old will make five years, $5.5 million per deal and could get more money on the open market. Zucker said he has faith in the current team, that he loves the group, and hopes he can come back.
“This is where I want to be. I said it after (the end of the season), and I’ll repeat it. I want to come back but as of now, it’s clearly out of my control. We’ll find a solution.”
The Penguins currently do not have a general manager or president of hockey operations after they fired Ron Heckstall and Brian Burke.
