Logan Cooley is on speculation that he will stay in college for four years and become UFA
GoPHNX’s Craig MorganLogan Cooley, a first-round draft pick from the Arizona Coyotes, said the no vote for the Tempe arena proposal played a role in his decision to return to the University of Minnesota rather than go pro. Had the vote been yes, he might have gone pro.
Teams began calling Coyotes to see if he was available for trade. Some wonder if he’ll play four years at Minnesota and become an NFL prospect. Last week, Cooley said that was not his plan.
NHL rumours: Where does Vladimir Tarasenko go from here?
“There’s no chance,” he said, laughing. “It’s not my goal to stay in college for four years and become a free agent, that’s for sure. There’s definitely nothing to it. I don’t want to be traded or anything like that.”
“Obviously, when you go back to school, everybody’s going to start speculating that you’re doing one thing or the other, but no, I’m just focused on becoming a better player and playing for the Coyotes.”
