Kansas City Chiefs
2022 Record: 14-3
Because of how quickly they’ve attracted and added coveted talent in recent years, the Chiefs have earned a virtual spot on these lists. Kansas City could use a player with Hopkins experience on the receiving team alongside Toni Cadarius and Marquez Valdez-Scantling, with Sky Moore currently a second-year pro in the WR3 slot.
Cap space will also be a hurdle here, as the Chiefs currently have less than $1 million to work with. But the idea of joining the defense power Champions – and playing NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes – sure is mind-boggling. And when it comes to stability, few franchises have been as stable as Kansas City over the past decade.
All the ingredients are there to make this dish. We’ll see if money is ultimately more of a mountain than dirt.
Ranking NFL Playoff Contenders Who Need a Free Agent WR DeAndre Hopkins | Ovarian report
5. The Kansas City Chiefs
From the moment trade rumors about DeAndre Hopkins began swirling, pundits have pointed to the Kansas City Chiefs as a potential fit. It wasn’t hard to see why either.
Yes, the Chiefs fielded the NFL’s biggest offense in 2022 on their way to winning Super Bowl LVII, but they did it with JuJu Smith-Schuster as the team’s top receiver. Now Smith-Schuster is in New England, and the Chiefs have done little to replace him in the offseason. As it stands now, the Chiefs’ top receivers are Kadarius Toney, Marques Valdes-Scantling, and Skyy Moore. This isn’t exactly a scary trio.
Yes, the Chiefs have the NFL’s No. 1 tight end in Travis Kelce, but Kelce is 33 and closer to the end of his career than the beginning. Bosses are smack in the middle of the tournament window, but those don’t stay open forever. The addition of Hopkins would be a huge boost for an offense that was already the only team in the league to average over 400 receiving yards per game in 2022.
As for Hopkins, what’s not to like? He will have the opportunity to play with Patrick Mahomes on a team that has played in three of the last four Super Bowls.
However, there is a major sticking point – which is why Bosses rank at the bottom of this list. No team in the AFC has less turf than the Chiefs, and they haven’t finished signing their rookie class just yet.
Money can be found for Hopkins’ autograph. But it would take quite a bit of restructuring for other contracts.
WR – Kadarius Tony
Kansas City Chiefs Age: 24
The former Giants first-round pick made a series of plays in the Chiefs’ Super Bowl LVII victory. And the ensuing furore over Tunney’s potential rise to the role of Kansas City’s WR1 could herald a breakout campaign for the 24-year-old. As an explosive weapon with exceptional stopping speed and running skills, Toney can produce big plays on horizontal or vertical routes. With Patrick Mahomes’ ability to rack up wide bars with pinpoint accuracy and unlimited range, this budding playmaker could make a serious mark in the 2023 campaign.
16. Jamal Charles
The injury led to the Chiefs parting ways with the franchise’s all-time rushing leader after the 2016 season. Prior to the injury, Charles (who played one year each in Denver and Jacksonville after his release from Kansas City) was one of the NFL’s best players. A four-time professional tackle from 2010-14, Charles retired about 5.4 yards per carry.
17. Teran Mathieu
Despite being an All-Pro at Arizona, Mateo was released by the Cardinals after refusing to take a pay cut. He played well under a one-year contract in Houston before signing a multi-year contract with the Chiefs in 2019. He earned All-Pro honors during his senior season in Kansas City while helping the Chiefs win the Super Bowl.

Report – Saints bring in John Gruden to help pin crime | ESPN
Derek Carr had a familiar helping hand last week — former Raiders coach John Gruden — as New Orleans Saints Fixing their offense during off-season workouts.
The Saints brought in Groden to help Carr and the offensive coaching staff under head coach Dennis Allen, NOLA.com reported Friday.
A second round draft pick by the Raiders in 2014, Carr spent his career in the Silver and Black until his release after the 2022 season. He signed a four-year, $150 million contract with the Saints in March.
But Bill seems to have changed his mind. He said recently that he wanted one last chance to show what he can do on a soccer pitch before officially ending his professional career where it began a decade ago.
“The day I retire, it will be with Pittsburgh,” Bell said on the “Steel Here” podcast via Steelers Now. “Before I do that, I might be like, ‘Let me get a couple of loads in the preseason so I can show you something.'”

DeAndre Hopkins Fired by Cardinals: Chiefs, Bills, Eagles, Ravens, Chargers in play?
The deal is noteworthy for the Kansas City Chiefs, who have been attached to the 30-year-old wide receiver for the entire offseason. In early April, we He saw the initial rumblings that Hopkins could be released — which would be the only way the Chiefs could practically sign the wide receiver.
The Cardinals were known to be shopping for a five-time All-Pro with high hopes of a trade, however The $19.45 million salary for 2023 that would have come with the trade prevented teams from committing to a deal. Now, all bets are off, and the Chiefs have to get back into the mix.
Keep in mind: Although Kansas City may find itself back in the mix, it still needs to free up some cap space. in arrowhead pride, we Chiefs is estimated to be worth about $1.1 million in the 2023 space, and that number will drop once Rashi Rice is signed to a rookie deal. But that could be mitigated by a contract extension for defensive tackle Chris Jones or a restructuring/adjustment to quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

People seem to forget when # heads They had $2.73 to their name in cap space in 2019, but somehow found a way to sign Patrick Mahomes to a ten-year, $450 million contract extension. If Veach and the Chiefs (i.e. Mahomes) want to D-Hop, they can make it happen. pic.twitter.com/X3GsSIYQzs
