It appears that the only person who is seriously supportive of adding Kyrie Irving to the Lakers is LeBron James. The 38-year-old star, who won one of the four NBA championships he played alongside Irving, has been wanting Kyrie in LA for a while now.
An anonymous NBA general manager said regarding Irving’s attendance of the Lakers’ two playoff games, “I don’t like the message so much if I’m at the Lakers or if I’m in the front office.” Ashish Mathur from Heavy.com. “There’s no overwhelming feeling from them like, ‘We have to go get Kyrie.'” It’s just LeBron.
It remains to be seen if Violet and Gold will try to appease James and make a move to acquire Irving. Reportedly, the Mavericks are not interested in helping the Lakers get a point guard.
