Modestas Bukauskas was a very different fighter during his second stint in the UFC.
The first time Bukauskas stepped inside the octagon, he scored a win, but that was his only success.
After this win, Bukaukaskas would lose three fights in a row and in his final fight, he suffered a severe knee injury that required surgery.
As if the knee wasn’t bad enough, Bukauskas was also fired by the promotion.
Bukauskas calls that moment the darkest time of his life, but those dark times will eventually find the light.
Not only was Bukaukaskas knee surgery successful, but it cured all of the knee problems that Bukauskas had suffered from throughout his career.
Now on new legs for the first time in years, Bukauskas also felt he had matured as a fighter because the UFC experience was eye-opening and he knew if he made a few minor adjustments, he could move back toward the UFC.
After 13 months out of the fighting game following knee surgery, Bukauskas fought for the Cage Warriors promotion and would go on to win both of his fights with the organization.
These wins would bring him back to the UFC and this time around, he’s sure things will be different.
He won his fight again in the UFC by defeating Tyson Pedro via unanimous decision.
Then, on June 17, Pucaskas fought at UFC Vegas 75 against Zack Bauga and “The Baltic Gladiator” had another good showing.
Bukauskas was able to sidestep Pauga’s grappling game plan and managed to knock Pauga out for another UFC win.
After UFC Vegas 75, Bukauskas spoke with MyMMANews about his win over Pauga, his success since leaving the UFC and what’s next for him in his career.
