Due to the loss of weight by Bennett at the official weigh-ins, the women’s flyweight competition was a one-way title bout, meaning that no new champion could be crowned. However, Carmouche chose to put her title on the line. If Carmouche won, she kept her title; If Bennett wins, the belt will be vacated.
Early on, Carmouche served as her worst enemy when a faulty spinning wheel backfired. Carmouche unbalanced as Bennett grabbed the catch and landed on top of the floor.
In the second round, Carmouche found success with her impressive formations, well set up with low leg kicks. Bennett took the fight to the canvas but Carmouche bounced back.
The third round was similar. Carmouche landed some good blows before Bennett pinned her to the fence and stopped the fight. Bennett dominated Carmouche on the mat for the remainder of the round.
In the fourth round, Carmouche spent the early stages defending a takedown from Bennett. A front choke neutralized Bennett’s attempt. In the end, Carmouche made her way to the highest level as she slowly worked her way up to the arm triangle submission. Bennett’s legs moved with the faucet.
Bellator 294 wasn’t the first time Carmouche and Bennett had competed against each other. They made their simultaneous Bellator debut in September 2020 when Carmouche defeated Bennett by third round submission. Bennett also missed weight in that bout.
