CHICAGO (AP) — Kelsey Mitchell sank a jump back with 1.1 seconds left as the Indiana Fever beat the Chicago Sky 92-90 Thursday night.
Dana Evans made a field goal on four consecutive Chicago possessions, the last on a runner with 38.3 seconds left for an 89-88 lead. Erica Wheeler worked the clock and was short on the bounce, but Nalisa Smith grabbed the rebound and returned it to give Indiana the lead with 14.5 left.
Evans entered the lane again and was fouled with 7.5 seconds left before making one of two free throws to tie it at 90-all. After making Mitchell, Chicago had an open look from 3-point range but Alana Smith’s shot fell short of the rim.
Indiana won back-to-back games for the first time since May 2022.
Chicago (5-6) was without its top scorer, Khalih Cooper, for personal reasons. Marina Mabry scored a career-high 19 points in the third quarter of the year for Sky.
Dream 92, Sun 88
UNCASVILLE, Connecticut (AP) — Alesha Gray scored 27 points and 10 rebounds, forced Cheyenne Parker into overtime with a last-second shot and the Dream beat the Sun to snap a seven-game losing streak in the series.
Atlanta led 78-73 with 1:57 left in the standings before Connecticut trailed 7-0 to take the lead on a DeWanna Bonner 3-pointer with 43.4 seconds left in the game. Neither team scored again in regulation until Parker split on a double-team to knock down a shot with 0.5 seconds left in the game.
Atlanta made their first five field goals of overtime to take an 89-84 lead with 2:23 remaining. Dream did not score again until Gray’s free throws with 21.9 seconds left for a five-point lead.
Atlanta (4-5) won back-to-back games on the road after beating New York 86-79 on Tuesday. The Dream continues to swing its four-game route in Indiana on Sunday before finishing it off in Dallas on Tuesday.
Breonna Jones scored 28 points and 13 rebounds for Connecticut (8-3).
Storm 96, Storm 63
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Jackie Young scored 28 and Gaga Wilson scored 14 points and 12 rebounds as the Aces beat the Storm.
Young scored a 3-pointer to seal the win 12-0 to take a 43-35 lead with 1:07 left in the second quarter. The Aces extended it to 47-37 at halftime after Kelsey Bloom scooped a shot before the buzzer. Young, Bloom, and Wilson each scored in double figures in the first half as Las Vegas shot 56% from the field.
Young scored 12 points in the third quarter to help Las Vegas build a 67-52 lead to enter the fourth. Gray’s behind-the-back pass to Kirstan Bell made it 84-59.
Bloom finished with 19 points for Las Vegas (9-1). Candace Parker scored seven points and six assists, and Gray added eight points and nine assists.
Easy Magpegor scored 23 points and 11 rebounds, and Jewell Lloyd scored 17 points for Seattle (2-7).
