Mickey Musumesi Capture the world of submission grappling with his outlandish personality and dynamic canvas attacks. Now, fans can see him bring that into the realm of mixed martial arts in action ONE Championship Sooner rather than later. At least, according to the man himself.
Introducing grappling superstar Miki Musumesi rocking the MMA move
From Las Vegas to Singapore and beyond, Musumeci has been bending other athletes’ ears and picking up tips. Even at ONE Fight Night 10, where Musumeci defended the ONE Flyweight Title wrestling against Osama Almarwaispent little time with him Rudtang Jetmwangnon. The advice he received made him think about making the change in the future.
“I want to fight in the future. I like to. I like to challenge myself, and… I like the challenge of it, and I like to make my jiu-jitsu work with the punches that are thrown. I think that would be the coolest thing ever,” Musumeci told ONE.
Musumeci is ambitious, having talked about chasing gold in multiple divisions. However, if the American made this move, he would not have changed divisions. Musumeci feels he is a natural fit at flyweight, and it will give him the best physical advantage to compete against the top level.
“If I did MMA, I would be in the 125-pound division. I think I’m really strong physically in that weight class, so I think — if I learn to stand from the best guys — I’ll get a really good shot,” Darth Rigatoni said.
Championships do not motivate a wrestler at flyweight. It is just a byproduct of striving for perfection. Musumeci plans to take advantage of the same mindset if he begins his journey in MMA.
“When I think of doing mixed martial arts, I think of it just like I think of jiu-jitsu: mastering whatever I work on. In jiu-jitsu, I don’t think about being a champion. I think about being the best at whatever I work at, perfecting my moves. “And that’s what makes me become a hero,” said Musumesi.
With the elite grappling, Musumeci knows his focus has to shift to hitting. The American star must have a competent attack on his feet and an impeccable defense. While there may be skeptics, Musumesi believes his mentality has proven that he can conquer whatever crosses his mind if he decides to pursue a new challenge.
“I feel like standing up, it would be the same. I want to learn to stand up.” [so I could] To be the best I can be in a standing position, and that [indirect] The result would be me winning world titles. Musumesi said, “I think my work ethic, how I train, and everything is perfect to become the world champion in mixed martial arts.”
While Musumeci is considering trying his hand at MMA, there is no timetable for such a transition. The world wrestling champion ONE Flyweight still has many challenges ahead on the world stage. Still, it’s an intriguing proposition that could lead to compelling contradictions in the future if Darth Rigatoni wore the four-ounce gauntlet.
