Welcome to Midnight Mania!
Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: Fighter A bets his entire fight bag that he beats Fighter B, who matches his bid into an imaginary pot. What was originally a bold display of confidence has now become something of a cliche, especially after Jake Paul has tried to bet his purse several times now.
Good thing Tommy Fury fumbled in that bag.
The latest combat athletes to fall victim to this trend are Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis, who are set to collide in a massive event this Saturday (April 22, 2023) at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. earlier this week, Davis fell victim to the purse betting trapand Garcia played in it.
As a result, an improbable voice of reason emerged. Conor McGregor, no stranger to fighting promotional instincts beforehand, took to Twitter to beg the martial sports world to stop with this ridiculousness.
“Have any rival fighters bet their purse against each other and then followed through?” Think McGregor on Twitter. We must stop doing this. The fight is hard. You can go anyway. Luck plays hell. Don’t say you bet your fighting wallet against each other. Because it never happens. And that’s stupid. Train hard. Fight hard. Earn your dough. Then enjoy it. god bless.”
After appealing to common sense, McGregor was asked if he would bet his wallet against Michael Chandler, who is expected to face him sometime later this year. McGregor continued to be calm and wise, although, of course, he did not miss an opportunity to remind the world of his star power and huge salary.
“I make significantly more money than everyone on the list combined, so that wouldn’t be possible,” to reply. “I can bet a part with that. But it’s silly, and no. This game, and the longer you play it, gets tougher and tougher. I keep my hard-earned money for my loved ones.”
Finally, Khabib’s name came out, and there was no more love lost between this duo.
Lover of a fat whore with tits now, boy.

I thought Indigenous Peoples Day was October’s alternative to Columbus Day, but I’m not about to argue with Alex Pereira.
The PFL continues to do PFL numbers with little recognizable growth.

Can the UFC make Jan Blasović vs. Paulo Costa happen? Given that Costa has just signed a new contract which he is allegedly very happy with, I’m not sure what the snag is here.
A classic Brendan Schwab moment.
Canadian talent Michael Malot has been petitioning for a spot at UFC 289, and now he’s calling out Robbie Lawler as a potential dance partner.
Joaquin Buckley’s move up to Welterweight is long overdue, and I’m excited to see how he does without too much height and getting to the disadvantage.

Slips, rips, and KO clips
Lost in his ridiculous dominance of wrestling was the fact that Khabib’s submission game was also really cool. There’s a reason you haven’t seen other millers like Kamaru Usman fall on their backs and lock triangles!
Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Islam Mamedov
6 fighters, including Islam Mammadov, left Abdul Manab for the “Champion” team (Khabib’s father wanted to stop training because of that incident). The following year, Khabib and Islammukhamedov met in the semi-finals pic.twitter.com/h0vMbWgBxT
