Welcome to Midnight Mania!
The world of general combat sports wasn’t expecting much when Shawn Strickland went from a very low weight to 185lbs in 2020. It’s been two years since his last fight, and Strickland wasn’t going to set the world on fire at 170lbs. . His first win was an obvious decision against the brave Jack Marshman, but it was Strickland’s next bout that really opened some eyes.
In November 2020, Strickland snapped Brendan Allen’s seven-fight winning streak, going undefeated in the UFC with a second-round knockout. In the years since, Strickland has established himself as a top 10 middleweight, and Allen has recently broken into the rankings himself. All the while, Allen has been calling a rematch with Strickland, looking for his shot at revenge.
Originally, Allen was scheduled to face Jack Hermansson in the main event of UFC Vegas 74 on June 3, but “Joker” pulled out due to injury. Fortunately, Allen sees this as the “perfect” moment to rematch Strickland, whose main event is scheduled for July against relative newcomer Apus Magomedov. Allen suggests the first player, believing him to be a better opponent and a better match for Strickland.
“So @tweet“,” Allen tweeted. “What do you say man. It sets us up for a perfect rematch, better build and definitely a better way for the fans. We can do it on the July 1st date if you prefer, the fans definitely want to see us fight on UFC 1-0 man.”
There is certainly some common sense in Allen’s argument. Defeating Magomedov wouldn’t do much for Strickland, while Allen is at least a rated name even if Strickland actually beats him. At the time of writing, Strickland has yet to respond on social media — he’s too busy ranting on Twitter about David Goggins and Dan Crenshaw.
Ultimately, it remains to be seen how the UFC handles the situation, but Allen’s suggestion would improve at least one of the aforementioned main events.

Manel Kape turns out to be one of the funniest fighters on Twitter, which is totally unintentional.
The fact is that he is fat, weak and big. He started training and felt that it was different, so he ran away from the fight. @tweet @tweet Abdelaziz00 Please do something, I can’t take these losers anymore.
