In the past month, pro Michael Block has stormed into the golf world with force.
In a historic performance at the PGA Championship, Block hit more than 281 runs for the week to finish T15, besting some of the world’s best. His week was marked by candid interviews on camera, a hole-in-one and a brawl on the 72nd hole to secure a place in next year’s Championship. By the end of the week, he had risen to champion status.
“My life has changed, but my life has only changed for the better,” Block said. “that it [been] An epic experience. “
Not only did the Block Roller Coaster Week interest golf fans everywhere, but it also caught the attention of some sponsors. By the time he left Oak Hill, he had already secured sponsor waivers for two other events.
The first invitation, in Charles Schwab’s challenge, ended in a disappointing cut. But for someone who makes a living teaching lessons, another week inside the ropes in the big leagues is never a bad thing.
Block’s other sponsor exemption came courtesy of the RBC Canadian Open, giving the driver a third outing in less than a month. And before kicking off this week north of the border, Block joined GOLF’s Subpar to share what a successful week in Canada would look like.
Make the cut [would be a successful week]Block said. “I would be very happy to make the cut. That would be a huge thing for me. And then obviously make it up and play as best I can on the weekend.”
Making the cut may seem like a modest goal for a golfer who just finished 15th in the major, but considering he’s only cut five in his entire career, weekend play is a good goal.
