Theme game
The Rangers are once again in Newark looking to take a massive 2-0 series lead after winning 5-1 in the first game. And the Devils are expected to adjust their approach, having already adjusted their lineup from Game 1. Expect the Devils to try to pick up speed offensively while still closing out the no-man’s-land, as they did in the second half of Game 1.
The Rangers will be looking to keep things moving. They will again look to reduce rush chances against offensive tackles well while controlling special teams play. If the Devils continue to control the 5v5 game, the Rangers will need to own the special teams.
Remember the formula is two out of three games 5v5 is good enough, strong special teams play, Igor Shesterkin. Two out of three keeps them in, and three out of three makes them hard to beat.
