The Toronto Marlies ended their Northern Division semifinal series with a 4-1 win in Utica on Friday night.
The Marlies won the series, three games to one, and will face either Syracuse or Rochester in the division finals starting Thursday.
Xavier’s parent The Comets punted to go up 1-0 after the first period, but Toronto dominated the middle, scoring three times on 23 shots. Kyle Clifford The scoring was capped by an empty net in the dying seconds of the third.
Eric Calgren (2-0) made 28 saves to seal the victory for the Marlies. Nico Doss (3-3) finished with 33 stops for the Comets.
