“My game plan was to knock him out. That was my game plan. I didn’t know if it was going to be a left hand, a right hand, a head kick — I didn’t know what it was going to be… a body shot… I was like, ‘Okay, I’m just going to Throw it in the kitchen sink. That was my original plan. I knew it was tough. I knew he could hit hard. I just wanted to believe in the fact that I did all the work and that I would be fast enough and sharp enough to get the job done.”

“Everybody pumping me back up, I’m sort of thinking in my head the whole time, like, ‘Oh man, everybody pumping me up.'” They only shoot me with gas. I don’t know how it will end. I don’t get into it much. I am a strange and different person. I was trying to ignore all that noise. My team is the best team – they are really honest. If you’re not doing a good job, they’ll tell you. So I kept telling myself that too: “Hey, they’re not just telling me this stuff because they’re just telling me.” But I think it was definitely a performance that put me on the map, for sure.”

McGee on what he wants next

Marcus McGee vs. Journey Newson

“(I want to be back) as soon as possible. I might have a couple of injuries – we’ll see. I’ve thrown a few kicks that I have to catch. I’d like to fight International Fight Week – that sounds great – or August, something like that. I don’t want to I’m taking a long time. I’d like to fight twice this year if I can – so two more times in the UFC this year. I want to be active. I haven’t been as active in my career as I’d like to be, so, that’s what I’d like to do. If we can get a good match And coming back here, that’s what I’m here to do.”
