Welcome to the latest edition of Missed Fists where we highlight fights from around the world that might have been overlooked in these trying times where there seems to be an MMA show every single day.
Few things make you feel older than when you see an athlete compete with a familiar name and realize they are the descendants of someone you grew up watching. This is happening more and more in combat sports, as the children of UFC legends Anderson Silva (boxer and boxer Kalyl) and Frank Mir (University of Iowa wrestler and undefeated fighter Bella) are starting to make their headlines, not to mention former standouts like Bellators AJ McKee, Baby Slice, and Ryan Couture. .
Heaven help us when the day comes when we see a little Diaz kid slap goons and flip them in the cage one day.
This week, we’re starting to look at two fighters with impressive athletic lineages, both of whom could make a splash in the pro ranks soon enough.

Mela Hill vs. Jekia Keeglar
Hobbyist Myla Hill is a Gracie jiu-jitsu trainee fighting out of a 6 Levels gym outside Orlando, Florida, who’s had a good start to her fighting career so far with two submission wins since her debut in 2021. Oh, she also happens to be the daughter of Seven-time NBA All-Star and Basketball Hall of Famer Grant Hill (and Tamia, shout out to Tamiya!)
Blessed with these genes, there was a strong chance Mila would pursue some form of athletic endeavor and at the moment she has devoted a lot of her time to mixing martial arts and you can see why: she’s very good at it.
At Brendan Allen’s All In Combat 2 event in Mandeville, Los Angeles, Hill improved to 3-0 with a first-round chokehold from Jakeya Keglar. Defending takedowns from the start, Hill targeted the neck throughout, and eventually Keglar gave up an opening to end the fight. Afterwards, Hale was rewarded with her brown belt.
You can watch the full fight here:
It’s not clear what weight class the 21-year-old Hill plans to compete in moving forward (she fought at 115, 135, and last weekend at a 120-pound catch weight), but you can be sure that there will be more eyes on her than you can. Ever decided to turn pro soon.
Raja Jackson vs Hastings Macmillan
Now to a lineage all too familiar to MMA fans, behold Raja Jackson — yes, son of Quinton “Rampage” Jackson — scored a first-round goal in United Fight League 2 to push his amateur record to 4-0.
The 23-year-old Jackson clearly has some of the skills and flair of his charismatic dad, which will serve him well as he transitions into the professional world. Just check out the file Instagram, where it refers to itself as a “German clone of Alpha-Wolf DNA strains for Rampage.” He looks like an MMA superstar to me!
If that wasn’t enough, Jackson trains at Team Bodyshop in California alongside the aforementioned AJ McKee.
Kesterabad vs. Dylan Stockard
Jonathan Weinland vs. Khalil Pearson
Daniel Gualajara vs. David Babakhanian
Next up, we’ve got more amateur highlights from, uh, Up Next Fighting 8 in Commerce, California.
Kester Abad may not have a famous father, but he will soon become famous himself if he continues to pull off knockouts like this.
The official timeout was eight seconds, which actually seems quite long since it appears he had at least five seconds of stoppage time on that wild header. This is one of those “you can’t time a kick like that better if you practice 1,000 times” kicks. devastating effect.
Somehow, this wasn’t the craziest knockout on this show as Jonathan Weinland made his amateur debut with a disgusting second-round knockout of Khalil Pearson.
Just lovely timing on the counter by Weinland, who didn’t seem like he had to put much behind that punch. Just position it perfectly and watch your opponent shut down. This is the leading contender for Humpty Dumpty’s fall title, folks.
And if you need another reminder that fighting at any level is no joke, here’s Daniel Gualajara putting David Babakhanian to sleep with some of the heaviest weight you’ll ever see.
Tyrell Luka Abramovich vs. Marco Pavich
Speaking of some of the heaviest pound and ground weight you’ll ever see…
This is Tiriel-Luka Abramovic putting a HURT on Marko Pavic at a Fight Night Championship event in Zagreb, Croatia. I don’t know what goes on in these amateur fights, but there has to be a way to prevent these guys from getting hit because they fail to fight their back.
Richard Muzan vs. Richard Muzan Mathias save
Well, I guess that’s one way.
At the 1 African Knockout Championships in Lagos, Nigeria, Richard Muzan scored one of the strangest finishes of the year with this late knockout.
I had to watch several times to find out what happened, but as you can see, Muzan caught Okuma by hitting him in the heel which shook him. At first, it seemed like Okuma managed to secure the side control and was working from there, but it became clear to Muzan and the referee that Okuma was in bad shape and the fight was off.
Okuma was eating some hard shots even before this sequence, so I’m guessing that was as much damage buildup as it was the result of a freak hit.
Kadir Korstanbek vs. Vladimir Nevolin
We reminded the venerable Humpty Dumpty Fall of the week goes to Kadir Korstanbek and Vladimir Nevolin of the 30 Open Fighting Championships in Samara, Russia.
Nothing fancy here, just a one shot grenade from Korstanbek which turned Nevolen into a grand theft auto A glitch in physics.
Yemi O’Doul vs. Eddie George
At CES MMA 73 on UFC Fight PassYemi Oduwole put Eddie George out of his misery with this third round Peruvian tie.
You could see that George was ready to go from gas to unconsciousness at the end there. This is a huge victory for O’Dwall, who handed George his first loss and came back from a disappointing loss in a Titan FC lightweight title fight last November.
Adrian Luna Martinti vs. Tagore Kaleo
Make it straight 10 for Adrian Luna Martinetti after he needed just 47 seconds to secure that awesome triangle armbar on Tagore Kallew at Fusion FC 61 in Guayaquil, Ecuador, yesterday.
Like his brother Andres, who was victorious in Thursday’s main event, Adrian expects to get a shot at the Contender Series sometime soon. Andres fought for a UFC contract this past July, losing a split decision to Alessandro Costa.
Gerald Mewes vs. Anthony Fasta
Ian Godin vs. Jacob Sonia
You know we didn’t leave this version of “Lost Fists” without checking out Gerald Mewes, who once again cut a rug before scoring the second Hurricane of his young career.
Meuse showed off some cute dance moves at Cage Titans this past January, going on to twist and make his opponents scream in his New England Fights debut. This time, his dance partners join the cosplay, with Black Widow and Spider-Man accompanying Captain America Meuse.
I know some fans find this stuff cliche, but I love martial arts dancing. The two best entries of all are Israel Adesanyaa Dance crew breakdown and UFC 243 and Akihiro Gono withdrawal withdrawal. This is not up for discussion.
Finally, let’s go to amateur welterweight Ian Godin, who reminds us that it’s not over until the fat lady sings, or, in this case, when she lands on your head has the same house-pop sound of Vlady Guerrero.
