Looking back at the 2022 NBA Training Camp Notes from 9-28-22.
Michael Porter Jr. needs to play well so Denver can go far
coming into season, CBS Sports Porter Jr. was ahead of Aaron Gordon in the NBA’s Top 100 Player Rankings for 2022-23. However, Gordon is now Denver’s third best rookie behind Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray. The 28-year-old is in his prime, taking his game to a different level this year.
Magic & Pacers need to focus on daily progress with young players
Orlando’s Paolo Panchero won Rookie of the Year and sophomore Franz Wagner increased his numbers in nearly every category while Terese Haliburton (NBA Season 3) made the All Star Game and Benedict Mathurin made the All-Rookie First Team. Both teams will be hungry for a playoff/playoff spot in 2024.
The Kings have the offense now, and the defense will determine if they make the postseason
Sacramento achieved its goal of making the playoffs and had a season to be very proud of. I think their electric attack carried them so much that it hid the defensive flaws the team still has.
The Suns are having an embarrassing media day, and Ayton’s poor defense on the substitution during the playoffs
Phoenix once again had an embarrassing Western semifinal appearance, this time losing by 25 points to Denver in Game 6 at home. Head coach Monty Williams was fired after this season, so hopefully newly appointed Frank Vogel will help Deandre Ayton become more disciplined/engaged as a big guy.
