The LIV Golf League has announced its first official sponsor, with the Majestic’s GC team being backed by leading cryptocurrency exchange OKX.
The sponsorship deal will see team members Ian Poulter, Lee Westwood, Henrik Stenson, Sam Horsfield and Laurie Kanter (who is a temporary injury replacement for Sam Horsfield) sport the OKX logo on the team’s kits. Through the partnership, the team and OKX will work together to bring innovative engagement opportunities and fan experiences to global audiences in leagues in the US, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
OKX is no stranger to investing in the world of sports, as the company already has long-standing partnerships with the McLaren F1 team and Premier League champions Manchester City.
Haider Rafeeq, Chief Marketing Officer, OKX, said: “Golf captivates people all over the world, however, its reach can be amplified if we dare to think big about fan engagement, inclusivity and truly unique partnership activities that use Web3 to dazzle and inspire. That’s what we aim for. With Majesticks GC, a top class team in the LIV Golf League that embodies our values and ambitions, we look forward to working with Majesticks on some very exciting things in the near future that will showcase our strengths.”
Majestics GC Co-Captain Ian Poulter said: “Having been an ambassador for OKX, I know the company brings passion, technological expertise and innovative thinking to everything they do. That’s why I’m so excited to welcome OKX as the first official global sponsor of Majestics GC. We both have ambitions Not just to win but to challenge the status quo. The partnership will lead to some amazing experiences for fans to go behind the scenes with us as we pursue our mission to make a difference on and off the course.”
Majestics GC Team Manager James Dunkley added: “We are excited to announce this groundbreaking partnership with OKX, Web3’s most innovative brand. We’ve worked with OKX previously through their sponsorship of Ian Poulter, and are excited to be leveraging their creativity and experimenting with Web3 technology to create some great fan-centric activations.”
The Majesticks will wear their new livery for the first time in competition with an appearance at next week’s LIV Golf event in Valderrama, and then at The Centurion Club in Hertfordshire the following week at LIV Golf London, which takes place on July 7. 9.
