UFC fighter Kyler Phillips and former Contender Series contender Dana White Darrius Flowers have received a six-month suspension after failing drug tests for a banned susbstance drug.
The penalties were announced at the Nevada State Athletic Commission meeting on Wednesday. Ostarine is a selective androgen receptor modulator (SARM) banned at all times according to the WADA Prohibited List. Ostarine is classified as an anabolic agent and can aid in areas of athletic performance such as muscle growth, fat burning, and endurance. Phillips’ suspension will expire on July 22, while Flowers’ sentence will expire on July 27. Both fighters were also ordered to pay attorneys’ fees totaling $407.50.
Phillips was removed from a proposed bout with Raphael Assuncao at UFC Fight Night 221 on March 11, while Flowers was supposed to make his promotional debut against Erick Gonzalez at UFC Fight Night 220 on February 25 before he was pulled from the card.
Phillips has been victorious in four of his first five fights in the UFC. The 27-year-old MMA Lab producer was last seen at UFC 271, where he scored a third round win against Marcelo Rojo.
Meanwhile, Flowers extended his winning streak to four at Contender Series last August, when he defeated Amiran Goguladze via TKO in the first round.
