the ONE Championship Bantamweight image has a clear hero yet Fabricio Andrade Defeated John Lineker. However, competitors who lunge for a shot vie for position. And that’s Kwon’s focus ahead of the triathlon match in Bangkok.
“Artem seems like a good guy. He’s too cute to be provoked. In my opinion, his main strength is his physical strength. However, he lacks speed, and I have a much larger set of skills. To excel in my strengths, I focused on improving my striking skills. Since my opponent is strong and good at wrestling, I have also trained in defense against wrestling techniques,” Kwon told ONE.
The South Korean plans to win a rematch against Andrade. Now that Wonder Boy is at the top of the division as the ONE Bantamweight Champion, Kwon knows he needs to impress to get the chance. But with a 100% finish rate, “Pretty Boy” is confident he can give his other highlight reel a chance to challenge the Brazilian.
“In one tournament, all my victories were finals. Of course, there will be an ending this time, and this time, I will work harder to get the performance reward. Just watch the fight. I will finish it in the second round.” Kwon then said that Fabricio Andrade’s rematch would be next.
Outside the ring, Kwon was putting the finishing touches on his first act. The bantamweight athlete recently opened his own gym in Seoul. P-BOY MMA has opened its doors to the next wave of South Korean talent looking to make their mark on the sport.
“I’ve been busy with my work lately. I recently opened a gym called P-BOY MMA. I’ve always dreamed of being an entrepreneur. The gym is just the beginning. I always enjoy new challenges. There were no difficulties for me.” [opening the gym]. If that happens, I just laugh at them and beat them,” Kwon recounted.
“Pretty Boy” sets the tone in his gym by leading by example and not playing the overprotective trainer. Kwon wants his athletes to be passionate about what they do. This is why he doesn’t force them to keep things light within the walls of P-BOY MMA.
“I already have my own team, but I don’t have expectations. I just want everyone to be happy and enjoy training. My gym motto is ‘slow but solid.’” P-BOY MMA is a gym where everyone can come and enjoy without No pressure,” Kwon said.
