Khamzat Chimaev glimpsed at UFC 294 a fight against former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman.
Chimaev hasn’t fought since last September when he submitted Kevin Holland at UFC 279. Currently undefeated in his professional MMA career with a perfect 12-0 record, Chimaev is one of the most celebrated fighters in the game today, but there’s one problem: He’s struggling to find his weight class. .
Chimaev lost weight badly at UFC 279 last year, and the card had to be completely redealed as a result of his weight loss. Although he crushed Kevin Holland in the first round of their fight, he was at 180 pounds. Because of this weight loss, most fans assumed Chimaev would move up to 185 pounds. However, the UFC appears to be reconsidering which weight class Chimaev will fight in his next bout, and it might be 170lbs instead.
Talking about YouTube channelChimaev confirmed that the UFC plans to book him for the Abu Dhabi card in October, and the promotion is talking to him about fighting former champ Usman in a welterweight bout.
“The UFC told us that we will fight in Abu Dhabi, and this is what I am waiting for,” Chimaev said. MMAjunkie.com). Osman wants to fight. I am fighting his last battle. wants money. He knows where the money is, you know? Everyone knows money. I will fight this man, Abu Dhabi, and I will smash his face, and finish him off, and then they have to give me this title. There are no more financial battles. It’s just me.”
It will certainly be interesting to see if this fight plays out, and if so, if Chimaev can actually gain weight.
