The Suns and the Nuggets are set to open the Western Conference Semifinals tonight in Denver. One of the host’s staples in Michael Porter Jr. has been compared to Kevin Durant.
Before the game, the two-time NBA champion was asked who his opponent was. Durant called Porter an X factor.
d said. “In high school he was seen as the best player in the country. I think his injury was the reason he got so down and Denver was lucky enough to recruit him. He was the 14th or 15th pick.
“But he always had the potential to be a great player. I’m healthy now, I get a chance to play for a team that plays for something, I play meaningful basketball every year, I got a Hall of Famer with you, and it makes the game a little bit easier.” .
“The sky’s the limit for him. He’s still young in the game. Still athletic after surgery. Hopefully he’ll have a quiet streak this series. He’s playing great. He’s an X factor.”
Porter averaged 16.4 points and 8.2 rebounds in 36 minutes in this year’s playoffs.
