Former champion Julianna Pena has targeted Amanda Nunes after her performance and the announcement of her retirement at UFC 289.
Pena (11-5 MMA) of course was originally scheduled to face Nunes (23-5 MMA) for the third time at tonight’s UFC event in Vancouver.
However, “The Venezuelan Vixen” eventually suffered an injury during training and had to withdraw from the competition.
This evening entered for Juliana Pena against perennial rival Irene Aldana against The Lioness.
Aldana (14-7 MMA) entered the main event of the evening as a back-to-back athlete, having earned octagon Wins over Yana Santos and Maisie Kiason on her most previous attempts.
Headlining tonight’s UFC 289 proved to be a one-sided affair. Amanda Nunes dominated Erin Aldana in all five rounds, while hitting the opponent with punches, ground and pound. After twenty-five minutes of goat work, the “lioness” was awarded the winning unanimous decision. After the win, Nunes shocked fans and fellow fighters by announcing her retirement from MMA.
