Joseph Wall thinks he’s ready to be a full-time NHL goaltender.
And given what we’ve seen from the 24-year-old this past season with both the Marlies and the Maple Leafs, it’s hard to disagree with him on this.
“Yeah, I think so. You know, that’s something I’ve worked so hard to be able to believe in and believe in. Understanding my ability and the amount of work I put into the mental part of the game and the physical part on the ice, I have all the confidence in the world in myself. That’s what the point is to be with.” Leafs and helping them win and helping them win the Stanley Cup, so I’m going to continue to pursue that goal.”
On Wednesday morning, Jay Rosehill and I were lucky to spend a few minutes with the Missouri native as part of their Leafs Morning Take show. Unsurprisingly, we came away from the interview very impressed. Honestly, this kid was as cold as looking at ice. Moreover, he has a massive flow.
Through 15 NHL games, Wall has achieved a 10-2-2 record to go along with a 2.39 goals against and a 0.922 save percentage. While it’s becoming abundantly clear that he might be up for a legitimate NHL shot, as things sway at the moment, the Toronto wrinkle is packed. Of course, a lot can and probably will change over the course of the effocene. On top of that, I’m pretty sure top of Brad Triliving’s to-do list is figuring out the Matt Murray case.
Join me Thursday at 11 a.m. ET. Rosey will be attending for another segment of 3 Hits With Rosey where he will detail his interview with Woll and what he took away from it. Also, former NHL goaltender turned NHL broadcaster Martin Perron (MSG, TSN, RDS) will suspend former NHL goalie turned NHL broadcaster (MSG, TSN, RDS) for blocking the Toronto crease moving forward. Could they go after Connor Hellbewick? What about Carter Hart?
