MUNICH – Joost Luiten cruised to a bogey-free 7-under 65 on Saturday to match his lowest round of the season and take a three-shot lead going into the final round of the BMW International Open.
The 37-year-old is in pole position at the age of 14 to claim his seventh European Tour win – his first since 2018. His closest challenger was Dutch compatriot Dan Huizing after 66 in the third round.
New Zealand’s Daniel Hillier, South Africa’s Thriston Lawrence and Ryder Cup vice-captain Eduardo Molinari of Italy finished third at 10-under.
“The day was pretty much flawless,” Lutin said. “I never got into trouble that much and if I missed the fairway I hit a great putt and still created a chance for the birdies. I made some nice birdies coming down the last four or five holes.
“Winning would mean a lot to me, but that’s not just me, that’s everyone. I need to keep my head calm.”
