Joe Rogan says what we already knew about Francis Nganno leaving the UFC, while Greg Hardy has been fired yet again. It’s Sunday, KSW just put on a stadium show with 50,000, and the UFC…is back on top. Signal sad trombone. Well, that’s MMA Sunday’s quick hits!
Joe Rogan sees Francis Ngannou’s exit as a “huge loss” for the UFC
Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou Signs With PFL? This is a “huge loss” for the UFC, according to one of its most prominent and long-serving employees.
Joe Rogan, a longtime color commentator (and interviewer before that) for the company, said just this on a recent episode of his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience.
Rogan said on a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience (free MMA junkie). “It bothers me. Get it. I’m glad he’s getting paid, I’m glad he’s getting paid to box, but I loved watching this guy fight in the UFC. He was a beast. He was so good, so good. It would be fun. I just don’t I know who they’re going to fight with.”
No opponent – in boxing or MMA – has been announced for Ngannou yet.
Claressa Shields isn’t done with MMA yet
One of PFL’s biggest signings from years past, Claressa Shields, is not done with MMA just yet. The world champion has been focusing on the “beautiful science” lately, but told Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour last week that she was still in talks with the league for another fight after starting her career tied 1-1.
“I would like to do MMA again,” Shields said on the show (h/t MMA fighting). “We’re in talks with the PFL now to try and see what the plan is, but I’d like to give the time to train and learn the MMA craft, to have a strong team behind me, because I’ve only been wingers. I went to JacksonWink and trained with them, and they were a great team. I’ve done a lot of training.” Jujitsu, and a lot of wrestling. But it was like, you get a 30-minute session, a 45-minute session—you don’t really get right [experience]. Like, I go to the gym and do boxing for less than three hours, and I have been boxing for 17 years.
“So I feel like in MMA, I want to have the same kind of routine so I can just learn those arts, because I’m away from the other girls, but boxing gives me a little bit of a boost. But if I can’t get back on my feet, then we have to figure out something else,” he continued. Shields. “So I just want to learn those arts to where they can give me a better chance of winning. I’m not afraid to do MMA. I’ve done it before. I just want to – I like to win. I like to win fights.”
Greg Hardy suffers a KO loss in a TCL boxing event
Former UFC heavyweight Greg Hardy has suffered another setback in his post-UFC career. Competing in a Team Combat League boxing event over the weekend, Hardy was defeated by Alexander Flores, a professional boxer with a record of 18-3-1.
TCL bouts don’t count towards professional records, so Hardy remains 2-0 as a boxer, and he’s 2-1 in the Team Combat League. But the loss follows another grueling KO defeat Hardy suffered at BKFC earlier this year.

KSW Colosseum 2 was this insane knock-off from the bottom
Scribing your back isn’t supposed to work, right? We did a whole story about it that you can read about, but it’s worth a second look. Kudos to former boxer Krzysztof Głowacki for creating his weekend move.
