WWE legend Ric Flair recently appeared on Joe Rogan’s podcast, and the two icons shared some hilarious moments while discussing Dana White and Ariel Helwani, too.
While legends in their separate industries, the two icons sat down for what was an epic podcast that just happened to bring up one of the funniest misunderstandings he said. The Joe Rogan Experience appeared a long time ago.
section Making waves in the world of MMA is a short, one-minute snippet that begins with Joe Rogan talking about his relationship with his longtime friend and UFC President Dana White. “I can call Dana at 1 a.m.,” Rogan began. “We’ll talk for three hours about battles. Just talk.”
Suddenly, the legend himself, Ric Flair, decides to bring in Ariel Helwani, and that’s when things take a very comical turn. “Ariel has a good job with him (Dana White), right?” Flair asked.
Ric Flair Hilariously Mistakes Ariel Helwani For UFC Employee And Former Fighter On Joe Rogan’s Podcast
Ariel Helwani? Rogan asked, doing a good job of not laughing. It was major news many years ago, but Ariel Helwani and Dana White famously screwed up after Helwani leaked UFC news that was supposed to be kept secret.
Dana White and the UFC were very angry that, according to them, the UFC was going to release the news themselves, and Helwani violated their trust by choosing to break the news. Helwani was then permanently banned from attending UFC events, media days, press conferences, and anything the UFC runs.
This is fairly common knowledge in the industry. Helwani himself brings it up all the time and he famously wondered if it would sabotage his career, but he chose to persevere and did very well for a professional journalist who has been banned from UFC events.
“Ariel Helwani is now independent,” Rogan explained. “He does his own thing… he doesn’t get along with Dana… I don’t have a problem with Ariel. I love Ariel. His show is great… He’s been with FOX for a while. He’s been with ESPN for a while… I know his show is very successful.” “.
The conversation continues to flow before things take a funny turn. Flair is about to make a huge mistake that doesn’t really mean anything but is pretty funny to look at. “I just saw him at WrestleMania,” said Ric Flair. “Ariel is very difficult, isn’t she?”
“Is he? I don’t know, I never think he’s a murderer.” Joe Rogan replied, kind of laughing.
“Oh, he didn’t? Well, my God. Looks like he did. Joe Rogan should’ve chimed in here and asked Flair if he was “afraid of him (Ariel Helwani),” Flair replied, to which “Nature Boy” Ric Flair immediately said, ” no”.
“Well, what are you trying to say?” Rogan asked as laughter broke out in the room. Ric Flair does a great job of keeping his face straight even though he has his facts mixed up and a little confused. “It looks like he did a (killer),” Flair said. “I thought he was a killer at one point… He’s very well built; he speaks very well.”
The clip ends, and while the things Flair said are harmless, it’s so funny and likable to see a living legend like Ric Flair appear so human and miss a few MMA truths. Humans have a knack for putting people on a pedestal, and when a living icon like “The Natureboy” appears on Joe Rogan’s podcast and gets some facts wrong and looks a bit like an MMA casual, it’s very funny, but also very endearing to see that happen and realize that even idols People are just regular humans too.
What do you think of Ric Flair’s hilarious misstep on Joe Rogan’s podcast, and do you think Ric Flair should be “afraid of” Ariel Helwani?
