The Washington Capitals fell to the Winnipeg Jets, 3-0 Monday night at Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The l0ss drops the Capitals record to 30-24-9 (69 points) on the season.
The Jets dominated play in the early going and opened the scoring midway through the first frame on Neal Pionk’s 5th goal of the season. Winnipeg made it 2-0 midway through the middle frame on Alex Iafallo’s ninth goal of the season and held the 2-o lead at the second intermission. The Jets made it 3-0 on a tally from Kyle Connor at the midway point of the final frame. That would be the final.
LINEUP

1ST PERIOD
The Jets tilted the ice right from the start, leading in five-on-five shot attempts, 14-1 in the first six minutes of play. Winnipeg finally dented the twine on a five-hole shot by Neal Pionk at 10:05 of the first frame.

The Jets held the 1-0 lead into the first intermission. Winnipeg led in five-on-five shot attempts, 32-14, scoring chances, 11-7, high-danger chances, 6-3 and xGF 1.35 to .60. The Capitals did slow things down at the 12-minute mark.
2ND PERIOD
Winnipeg extended their lead to 2-0 on a deflected shot by Alex Iafallo (9) at 8:16 of the middle frame.

And that was it for the middle frame. Capitals led in five-on-five shot attempts, 18-17. Winnipeg led in xGF 2.08 to 1.47.
3RD PERIOD
The Capitals were awarded the game’s first power play early in the final frame, but were unable to capitalize on the man advantage.
The Jets made it 3-0 on a tally from Kyle Connor at the midway point of the final frame. It was Connor’s 27th tally of the season.
