The Utah Jazz and Jordan Clarkson are in talks for a three-year extension, according to sources. On Thursday, Clarkson picked up his $14.3 million player option for the 2023-24 season with Utah State in lieu of a free agency test.
That’s part of a four-year, $51.52 million contract he signed with the Jazz in November 2020. Had Clarkson not struck a new deal with the team this season, he would become an unrestricted free agent next summer.
According to multiple NBA betting sites, the Utah Jazz are ranked 25th to win a championship next season in 2024. Check sportsbooks that show better odds for the rivals Oklahoma City Thunder, Portland Trail Blazers and San Antonio Spurs.

Jordan Clarkson scored 12 rebounds as Utah went 112-108 vs Orlando Magic On January 13, he had a career high 12 assists in a 129-119 loss to the Thunder on March 5.
Jazz coach Will Hardy noticed signs of improvement in Jordan’s play throughout the 2022-23 season. “I think Jordan did a really great job of trying to get a little bit of humility on the offensive end at times like, ‘They’re going to run a couple of guys at me, and I have to try and create some looks,'” Hardy said in March.
Makadi with clutch information. If Jordan Clarkson signs an extension above $17.16 million per season, he won’t be able to trade for 6 months. Which I think he will do. https://t.co/bYWsjsPdFE

“I think he’s improved a lot as the season has gone on finding players on the weaker side of the floor. He had an instinct to kind of find Walker.” [Kessler] And the seniors are in the middle of the floor, but I think making those decisions about who to find on the weak side – whether it’s the corner or the wing – I think it’s something he’s really grown this year, but it’s tough.”
In Clarkson’s second year with the Jazz in the 2020-21 season, the guard won the NBA Player of the Year award after averaging 18.4 points, 4.0 boards, 2.5 assists and 26.7 minutes per game.
The NBA Free Agency begins later today at 6 PM ET.
