Denver Nuggets star Jamal Murray discussed the journey back from a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee after winning the 2023 NBA Finals 4 games to 1 against the Miami Heat on Monday.
(via Denver Nuggets):
“I have to say I have doubts, and it’s normal. Someone asked me about butterflies. It’s what makes you alive. It’s what makes you care. When you doubt yourself, it’s what makes you try to find a way to change it. In any sport, in any injury, And whatever profession you’re in, when you’re going through tough times, that’s how you envision yourself and envision yourself at the end of it. Zach LaVine was a huge help. We talked all the way through rehab and we were still in rehab at the time. So I’m asking, are you still You do this? Do you still do this? What do I feel? What should I expect? Gallo (Danilo Gallinari), [Victor] Oladipo, Clay [Thompson]All these guys have shown that you can do it, and I just wanted another guy to be an inspiration to those little kids who’ve been through some adversity even at those young ages, knowing that when you put your mind to it, that will take care of itself. It’s just the mindset you have to have. I was a big minded guy growing up. It’s crazy to see it through, outside the anterior cruciate ligament. This is fresh. This is a year of playing, and I don’t have a year or summer to really work on my game. There’s more to me, and I know if I can do it from the AFC Champions League, I still have sore days and everything like that, we can do it again.”
