Oh, how we all laughed in 2020 when Jake Paul suggested he wanted to fight Conor McGregor. The kid even came up with an offer of $50 million that he said he put into escrow for the boxing match.
In that time, Paul has one win over NBA player Nate Robinson. McGregor would rebound from his loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov with a 40-second TKO by Donald Cerrone. Few people, even among Paul’s supporters, expected an agreement.
Fast forward to April 2023 and things are starting to look different. Paul beat two former UFC champions on the boxing ring, including UFC GOAT competitor Anderson Silva. He is scheduled to fight Nate Diaz on August 5th in Dallas, Texas. If he beats Diaz – and the bookies who line up have the “problem kid” as a favorite against the younger and older MMA fighter – then Paul’s callouts will become very difficult to ignore.
We’re still three months away from the fight between Diaz and Paul, but Jake is already shooting Conor McGregor again. In a new tweet that may be a response to McGregor predicting a Diaz win, Paul hurled “The Notorious.”
“I’m a better boxer than Connor and I’ll do what you can’t and kick Nate out,” Paul wrote. “After Nate, let’s play as a co-main event the same night as Katie Taylor VS. Amanda Serrano in Dublin. But since you’re not your own boss, you’ll either hide behind Dana or drink the rest of your life away. August 5th you’ll see.”
I’m a better boxer than you, Connor, and I’ll do what you can’t and fire Nate. After Nate let’s play as a co-main event the same night as Katie Taylor VS. Amanda Serrano in Dublin. But since you’re not your own boss, you’ll either hide behind Dana or drink for the rest of your life…

Paul was involved in promoting the first Serrano vs. Taylor bout in April 2022, which saw Irish Olympic gold medalist Katie Taylor defeat Amanda Serrano in what became the biggest women’s boxing match in history. The rematch was scheduled to go down in May 2023, but Serrano’s injury canceled that date.
No new date has been set for the bout, but McGregor is already tangled up in the fight. He has offered to sponsor the fight with his proper Brand 12 whiskey so it can be held at Dublin’s 80,000-capacity Croke Park.
What are McGregor’s chances of stepping on the card as co-chairman? zero. But Paul is very smart about using his largely one-sided feud with McGregor to help power up the Cyrano vs. Taylor fight. And we are sure that this will not be the last time he will challenge Jake Connor. If he beats Nate Diaz on August 5th, McGregor may have to start answering some of his dirty talk.
