William Nylander, a forward for the Maple Leafs, has developed into a standout and potential star over the past few years. Nylander scored his first season with 40 goals as well as his first season with a point per game.
This type of output appears to have attracted some interest across the league, particularly from some of the NHL’s top teams.
On the 32 Ideas podcast hosted by Elliott Friedman and Jeff Marek, Marek shared this idea.
Marek on 32TP: “If I made William Nylander available I know a lot of Nylander haters wouldn’t want to hear this, there would be a huge market for William Nylander…a market that keeps coming up for me when I think about if the Leafs want to go into the market With Nylander is Colorado”

Considering how Colorado stacks up with talent from front to back, this is an important proposition. This sparked a lot of speculation about Nelder’s upcoming return.
For a team like Colorado, which has a wealth of young talent, trade talks should begin for either Bowen Byram, the fourth overall pick in 2019, or Alex Newhawk, the 16th overall pick in 2019.
Among the speculations about what will be the focus of the Nylander trade, it is evident that if the Nylander is shipped, it will be one, or both, of those two being shipped back to Toronto.

This type of trade has happened before with Ryan Johansen in the Seth Jones deal that happened in 2016 where a burgeoning star player was traded for an older star player in a different position.
With all that being said, Byram’s Nylander would be an interesting idea and Kyle Dubas should definitely explore the idea.
