Multiple storylines from the competition: Can Minjee Lee defend her title? How do women navigate this course that most golfers know so well from watching past men’s matches and annual PGA Tour events on TV? Can Rose Chang stay hot and contend for a major title in her rookie year? What would Annika Sorenstam do?
One story, personal to me, is that Emily Crisp, known worldwide as Missy, will make her final run at the USGA Open as a rules official. Crisp decided it was time for her to hand in her rules badge, and she will do so at the end of the 2023 USGA competitive calendar.
Crisp’s golf career and contributions to the game are not all that well known outside the indoor golf campus. Which is a shame, because she’s had such a great career on and off the track. She is one of the greatest USGA volunteers…
