Finally, the 2023 Open Championship kicks off on Thursday morning, July 20, with the opening round at Royal Liverpool Golf Club. Here’s what you need to know to watch the first round of The Open on TV or online.
Open round preview
Over the past several months, Scotty Scheffler has achieved an incredible feat, finishing 12th on the Official PGA Tour’s 18-game record in a row. This hot stretch helped him comfortably maintain his world number one ranking, but he has not won since March.
As a result, much of the talk heading into day one at this year’s Open revolves around the man behind him in the standings: Rory McIlroy. McIlroy won the Genesis Scottish Open on Sunday, triumphing the last time the Open was held at Royal Liverpool.
Starting Thursday, the two superstars will struggle to end their respective major droughts.
