Charlotte Hornets have signed guard Kobe Simmons to a two-way contract.
Simmons scored 1,803 points in three seasons (2019-21, 22-23) with the Greensboro Swarm, an all-time record for a G League Hornets team. In 98 contests (78 starts) with the Swarm, Simmons averaged 18.4 points (46.2 FG%, 36.2 3P%, 78.9 FT%), 4.4 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.1 steals in 33.5 minutes per game. Prior to the squadron, he spent two seasons with the Memphis Hustle and Cleveland Charge.
Simmons made his NBA debut with the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2017-18 season. He set career highs with 20 points and seven assists in the Grizzlies’ victory over the Detroit Pistons on April 8, 2018. Simmons appeared in 33 games (12 starts) for the Grizzlies and Cleveland Cavaliers, recording 5.9 points, 1.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists. at 19.5 minutes per game. His professional experience also includes one season (2021-22) playing with BM Slam Stal Ostrow WLKP of the Polish Football League.
Simmons played one season at the University of Arizona (2016-2017), where he averaged 8.7 points, 1.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 23.5 minutes per game across 37 contests (19 starts). He helped the Wildcats win the Pac-12 championship, a trip to the Sweet 16 and a #4 spot in the recent AP Poll.
