A BJJ black belt taking on an MMA media personality A white belt makes sense, right?
The Fury Pro Grappling 7 went down last night (Saturday, May 28, 2023) inside the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, PA. While yes, there were four current UFC fighters on the card, including Gerald Meerschaert versus Joe Pyfer in the main event, all eyes were on a bizarre off-the-wall match between CFFC President Brad Bolton and MMA media member Ben “The Payne” Davis.
The grappling match was made on five days’ notice after Davis challenged Bolton on Twitter.

“The Bane” is a play-by-play commentator for several promotions, including Rage in the Cage, Empire MMA, and XMMA, as well as a media personality for Karate Combat.
In fact, the match went exactly how a black belt vs. a white belt should go – a very quick handover after a failed flying triangle from Bolton.

The Fury Pro Grappling 7 was Bolton’s second short notice game. His first event happened on literally a few hours’ notice against UFC legend Clay Guida as he was submitted via arm triangle.
The main event
In the main event, he defeated Pyfer Meerschaert via unanimous decision. The middleweight pair fought at UFC 287 (highlights of the hour).
