Henry Cejudo doesn’t think Algemeen Sterling vs Sean O’Malley will be close.
‘Triple C’ is fresh from his return earlier this month at UFC 288 against ‘The Funk Master’. The bout ended up being three years short of the former champion, having last competed in May 2020. In that bout, Cejudo scored a second-round knockout win over Dominic Cruz.
Sadly for the former title holder, he was unlucky in his comeback earlier this month. In the pentathlon welterweight main event, Cejudo came up short by split decision. After the loss, “Sugar” entered the cage to face Sterling. Despite the short notice, the two were already booked for UFC 292 in August.

Henry Cejudo previewed the bantamweight championship bout in an interview with Chamatkar Sandhu. There, Triple C predicted that Algemeen Sterling would easily get the job done. Cejudo stated that O’Malley’s lack of wrestling skills would hurt him greatly, and the bantamweight champion would beat him up as a result.
“Yes [Sterling will get past O’Malley easily]Henry Cejudo stated in his book interview. “If O’Malley was able to put him on his feet, but no. I think Aljamen Sterling would squash him and shove him into the cage. And you know if he can take me down, then he can take out any of those guys.”
He continued, “So, Shawn’s going to be in trouble. You know Shawn just relies on his great jab, I’m sure he works on jiu-jitsu but in MMA it’s totally different. I think Sterling will just beat him and hurt him.”
