ATLANTA (AP) — Atlanta Hawks coach Quinn Snyder, who took over the team in February, finished the finishing touches on his team for next season on Wednesday.
Igor Kokoskov, who spent one season as head coach of the Phoenix Suns, is taking over as Snyder’s assistant head coach. The Hawks also hired Mike Bree, who has spent the past 23 seasons leading the Notre Dame program.
The remaining assistants are Brian Bailey, Brittney Donaldson, Steve Klee, Antonio Lang, Sanjay Lumpkin, Ikpe Udu and Jeff Watkinson. Klei and Watkinson have been with the Hawks since March.
In addition, Reggis Onwukamuche will serve as player development coach, while Bryan George will work on player development, scouting and video development.
The only residuals from the staff Snyder inherited after taking over from Nate McMillan are O’Neill Holder (player development) and Jacob Porter (video).
“We have assembled coaching staff who combine a diverse range of experience and expertise to develop, engage with and challenge our players,” Snyder said in a statement. “Each of our coaches brings something unique to our group and I am excited to be working with this team and finding ways to continually improve our squad.”
After McMillan was fired, Snyder coached the Hawks to a 10-11 mark through the remainder of the regular season. The team knocked out eventual NBA Finalist Miami in match play to earn the No. 7 seed, but lost to the Boston Celtics in the opening round of the playoffs.
