The Washington Wizards have yet to officially begin their search for a new general manager, but potential targets are starting to emerge. As Wizards governor Ted Leonsis said when firing former general manager Tommy Sheppard, the team is looking at outside candidates to lead their front office.
Many expect Washington to inquire about the availability of Toronto Raptors President Masai Ujiri and Minnesota Timberwolves President Tim Connelly’s basketball operations. New Orleans Pelicans general manager Trajan Langdon is also a potential candidate.
Ujiri is considered one of the top basketball executives in the game. However, he has shown no desire to leave Toronto when approached in the past.
Connelly previously worked in the Wizards front office. He is just completing his first season in charge of the Wolves front office. He may not be willing to jump teams back in so quickly.
Langdon is a rising star in the front office ranks. He was David Griffin’s right-hand man, as they rebuilt the New Orleans Pelicans after franchise player Anthony Davis.
