Memphis Grizzlies winger Desmond Bean had surgery today to fix a fracture to the medial sesamoid bone in his right big toe.
Bane was initially injured during the Grizzlies’ November 11 game against the Minnesota Timberwolves and missed the next 17 games, returning to action on December 23.
Bane is expected to make a full recovery, the team says, before the 2023-24 season.

The Grizzlies could sign Bane to a rookie contract extension this offseason, and all signs point to that happening.
“Des is a cornerstone, and she’s a very important part of this group,” Zach Kleiman, general manager and president of basketball operations for the Grizzlies, said during exit interviews in April. “I think he has a chance to establish himself as a key leader within this group.”
