Boxing champ Gervonta Davis was taken into custody at Baltimore Central Boxing on Thursday, less than a month after he was ordered to serve three months of home confinement in a hit-and-run accident.
The 135-pound competitor, who was serving 90 days of home confinement due to a hit-and-run conviction earlier this month, was given an “impromptu hearing” and ordered to serve the remainder of his sentence behind bars.
“Tank” Davis was sentenced to two years in prison and more on May 5 but the sentence was suspended. A boxing superstar will not spend time behind bars if he meets other requirements. It was not immediately clear why the impromptu session was held and the ruling changed. Davis also received 200 hours of community service and a three-year probation from Handy in Circuit Court for the City of Baltimore.
Davis, 28, was sentenced May 5 after pleading guilty last year to involvement in a hit-and-run accident in 2020 that injured four people, including a pregnant woman.
Davis reportedly left a downtown Baltimore restaurant in his Lamborghini Urus SUV, following a police escort. Reports indicate that the boxing champ broke away from the escorts, shining a red light on Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue. And hit the Toyota Solara. There were four adults in the Toyota, and they were all taken to a nearby hospital.
Davis is one of boxing’s biggest stars, with a record of 29-0 and 27 knockouts.
