Seriös Group Newcastle Eagles will be looking to continue their winning streak and climb up the British Basketball League standings when they have their rematch against the Plymouth City Patriots.
Currently on a record of 5-7 in the 2023/24 British
Basketball League standings, the Seriös Group Newcastle Eagles will be hoping
to improve their record more when they host the Plymouth City Patriots.
Only playing against each other five days ago, Newcastle
will be hoping for a repeat after winning 95-68.
The Patriots will look for that loss to the Eagles to be out
of their memories as they still look to climb off the bottom of the British
Basketball League standings.

Rematch?
In their recent outing, the Eagles completely shut out the
Patriots, beating them to the score of 95-68.
In a brilliant offensive and defensive display from Newcastle,
Josh Ward-Hibbert, Rickey McGill, and Devin Whitfield combined for 62 points,
while Taylor Johnson for the Patriots was the only player for the losing side
to break at least 10 points.
Plymouth will once again need better cohesion in this game. Taylor
Johnson has been incredible for the Patriots this season, but the rest of the
team lacked offensively and defensively.
If the Eagles want to notch another win by their name, they
will just have to go out and repeat themselves against a Patriots team lacking
an identity. Even though they lost the points in the paint battle, they beat
the Patriots in nearly every other statistic.
The Patriots must work harder after getting dominated in
second-chance points, points from turnovers, and rebounds. Three stats that can
easily be equated to a lack of focus and working hard in the game of
basketball.
This could be a much closer game if Plymouth can focus and
get their guys going.
Me Against the World
The Newcastle Eagles have struggled this season as a team,
with questions rising around their chemistry. However, they still have an
insane amount of talent to make it work at times.
Their backcourt is arguably one of, if not the best, in the
League when it comes to scoring. Rockey McGill and Jordan Johnson have been on
a tear this season, with McGill averaging 16.6 points and Johnson averaging
18.5 points.
This doesn’t even mention one of the pre-season favourites
to win MVP in Tajh Green, and Josh Ward-Hibbert starting to show his true value
with his high-scoring recently.
Plymouth have shown they can score, but it’s their ability
to get all their players hot is lacking, with this only happening arguably in
their miracle win over the London Lions.
Taylor Johnson has been their best player by far this season
and will be the one to watch for the Patriots. However, Plymouth will need more
out of TJ Attwood and Mason Faulkner if they want to leave Newcastle with the
win.
