Earlier this week there were several The grumbling that appeared during the discussion Possibility of trading Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson. Wilson is entering the final year of his six-year deal with the Capitals.
According to Sportsnet’s Elliott Friedman, Wilson’s transfer is not going to happen. Discuss the rumors in his country 32 Thoughts Podcast Friday.
“During the Final, I didn’t get a chance to look into it much. I heard the reports. I’ll be honest, I didn’t hear any of the information myself. But I did hear the reports. So I finally looked into it now that the Stanley Cup Final was over, and I got turned down,” Friedman said.
“I was told that wouldn’t happen. I was told that the Capitals want to keep him, and they see him as a big part of their future.”
Wilson missed the first half of the 2022-23 season after recovering from knee surgery he had last June. He only played in 33 games, but scored 13 goals and nine assists during his short game in the 2022-23 season. PAR of 43.43 (yes, really) was -13.
Wilson has knocked out a 20-goal, 40-point game three times in the past five seasons, including career highs with 24 and 52 in 78 games during 2021-22.
Wilson will be eligible to sign an extension of up to eight years with the Capitals, starting July 1.
