Just because Walker Buehler plays professional baseball doesn’t mean he can’t play golf on “business trips.”
On this week’s episode of GOLF’s Subpar, Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder told co-hosts Colt Knost and Drew Stolz how the process usually sucks for guys who’ve been on the road half-time during a six-month season.
“If we set it up, it’s kind of an important thing, but we have to know,” Buehler said. “I will fetch [my clubs] to san [Francisco]. I played the Olympics and Cypresses there.”
The time Cypress Point played was particularly notable for being a two-time MLB All-Star because he did so well with his schedule. He had flown in the night before, stayed on the property and was the first group out of the first tee, and played without a member on his day off.
Some of the current and former pitchers are well known for their golf and their companionship on the track, such as the “Big Three” Atlanta Braves and Tiger Woods of the 1990s. However, Buehler said he usually tries to put together matches between team members.
“I think players who want to play golf like they do will play golf,” Buehler said. “You’re never going to be like, ‘Oh, we can’t have you bring your clubs,’ but you can’t come with us.” “
He said he used to play more golf as a rookie, maybe 20 rounds that season, but it got more difficult as he got older.
“I bet last year I played twice [rounds]. And it’s hard to do that and it’s hard for your body to wake up. “I mean, that sucks,” Buehler said. “We play 162 in 180 days and you’re in ‘X’ number of cities and that’s a lot, it’s tough, but there are certain places where it’s like, well, we’ll set this up.”
