The 26 players were individually informed of the penalties applicable to them based on the specific conflicting tournaments in which they played, as a member of the DP World Tour, without obtaining a permit.
Fines ranged from £12,500 to £100,000 for each individual breach of conflicting tournament regulations. The cumulative suspension imposed on any single player for violations from 22 June 2022 to 2 April 2023 amounts to a maximum of eight DP World Tour tournaments, consisting of a combination of one or two week suspensions.
The suspensions imposed relate to the regular season of the DP World Tour, and will continue in succession, starting with the Porsche European Open from 1-4 June 2023 – the first chronological tournament on the DP World Tour schedule for which entry remains open today.
Players who have resigned from their membership will not be eligible for reinstatement unless they pay their fines and their suspension will apply from then on. Further penalties for conflicting tournament rule violations in events that occurred after April 2, 2023, will be considered in due course.
In April, the Arbitration Committee sided with the European Tour in its legal battle against 12 players who appealed against being fined £100,000 and banned from the Scottish Open for playing in LIV Golf’s inaugural event in June 2022 without permission.
Lee Westwood, Ian Poulter, Sergio Garcia and Richard Bland all resigned their memberships on the DP World Tour after all but Garcia paid £100,000 fines.
