While speaking to the media after head coach Spencer Carberry’s first media availability on the job, Washington Capitals general manager Brian McClellan announced that center Nick Dowd recently underwent base surgery to fix a problem he was dealing with at the end of last season.
McClellan says Nick Dowd underwent essential surgery to fix an issue he was dealing with at the end of the season. Dowd said surgery may be an option for the day the Treasury collapses. McClellan didn’t seem too concerned.

The 33-year-old stated during the day of the breakup on April 15 that surgery might happen.
However, McClellan did not seem overly concerned that Dodd would miss any training camp in September.
Dodd missed Washington’s last three games of the season due to an injury he picked up in a 4-2 loss to the Florida Panthers on April 8.
Dodd finished the season with career highs in goals (13) and points (25) in 65 games. He also led the Washington centers with a 50.82% face-off win percentage.
