CHICAGO – After more than 40 years working in Chicago, Daniel James is finally going to one of the city’s most iconic landmarks.
James, a Bellator heavyweight, has never been to Wrigley Field, the old home of the Chicago Cubs and historic stadium that is over 100 years old. But Wednesday, he made his first home run—and threw a ceremonial first pitch.
This isn’t too shabby for Wrigley’s debut.
Friday, James (15-6-1 MMA, 3-0 BMMA) fights Gokhan Sarikam (8-2 MMA, 4-2 BMMA) for the main card opening at Bellator 297 at Wintrust Arena in Chicago. The main card airs on Showtime after the pre-shows on MMA Junkie. A win for James could put him in a position to challenge for the heavyweight title next time.
Before the fight, take a ride with James from the Chicago Loop to Wrigley Field for his first show in the video above.
